GIFTED EVALUATIONS
In order for your child to be placed in a gifted program they must demonstrate superior intellectual functioning. One way to measure intellectual abilities is through standardized assessment. A child must receive a score that is at least two standard deviations above the mean to be considered gifted.
ATTENTION DEFICIT / LEARNING DISORDERS
If you or your child struggle with planning, organizing, or sustained attention that is causing impairment, an evaluation to determine if difficulties are related to a diagnosis of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder may be beneficial.
An educational evaluation can help in determining if an underlying learning disorder may be the cause of academic difficulties. Results of assessments can be used in developing an individualized educational plan (IEP) that can help your child be more successful in the academic setting.
PSYCHOLOGICAL / PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT
Objective measures that screen for anxiety, depression, and personality characteristics, among other things, can be beneficial in clarifying diagnosis and treatment planning.
BARIATRIC / PRE-SURGICAL PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENTS
It is becoming common practice for medical professionals to require psychological assessments prior to certain surgical procedures. A review of the patients history, history of diet and exercise (in the case of Bariatric procedures), personality assessments, and questionnaires that look at health beliefs and attitudes can assist in identifying risk factors and psychosocial strengths and barriers.
VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION (VR)
Psychodiagnostic assessment for individuals with physical or psychological difficulties who are seeking employment. VR is a state-federal program.
